The Happyakrz After School Builders program is intended for middle school-aged students (5th through 8th grades), and we work with local community and corporate foundations to aid in the financial support so that school districts are not diverting classroom funds for our projects. We develop a team relationship with the Administrators and Supervisors so that every kit is delivered, explained, and the students gain a better understanding of the subject-matter or theme through our kits.
If you are interested in adding the After School Builders program to your after school services, please don't hesitate to contact us HERE, and we can walk through the process toward developing a custom program for you!
The kits that the students will be building throughout the program will be closely linked to the educational and societal themes promoted by the National Education Association (NEA) and their Read Across America program. You can learn more about these programs and the monthly focus at their website:
In most cases, we will be creating original designs for the kits built by the students, but from time to time we may want to showcase the creativity of other "Master Builders", in which case you will find links to their personal sites on our kits page. We absolutely love getting photos from the After School Supervisors, and it's great to see the kids enjoying their builds!
SUMMER SPARKS 2023
For this year's Summer Sparks program, we had ten students sign up for a directed study in LEGO engineering STEM. The Apollo 11 Lander (Eagle) was our subject, and the kids were excited to dig into the STEM-oriented challenge! This was NOT an easy build, but the kids had a "blast"! :)

While we were still getting the new kits for this year prepped, the students started building some of the left over kits from last year, and we are so excited to see their enthusiasm!
Once we got the Starry Night kits delivered in October, we saw some awesome building (and fun learning) taking place!
SUMMER SPARKS 2022
For this year's Summer Sparks program, we had ten students sign up for a directed study in LEGO engineering and alternate build techniques. The Statue of Liberty was our subject, and the kids were definitely challenged with the beautiful design and creative build!
PRESENTATION OFGRANT PUBLIC LIBRARY KIT
On June 15, 2021, we had the honor of presenting one of the kits that I developed for the first year of Happyakrz After School Builders: the Grant Public Library kit.
Many thanks to the Board of Directors for including us in the meeting agenda, and specifically to Director Jessica Hunt for her enthusiasm about the project and presentation of the end result in the library.
Thanks, as well, go to Lisa Do, our fantastic (recently graduated from the 8th grade) after school student who built this model! Lisa was a wonderful member of the after school program, and we look forward to including her in other LEGO projects in the future!
We look forward to our summer program at Grant District, "Summer Sparks", and then diving into the next after school program next year with more original designs and fantastic builds!

2020-2021
We just love showing off our After School Builders and their successful builds! Many thanks to the program supervisors who not only help the kids, but enjoy their very own building opportunities!
SUMMER SPARKS 2021
For the Summer Sparks program, we had nine students sign up for a directed study in character development and the transition to a 3D model for LEGO engineering. The Iron Giant (from the same-named movie) was our subject, and the kids loved building a poseable figure!
